MEET THE ODYSSEY
TEAM:

Jamie Manicom: Director of Odyssey Recruitment
I started in a career in recruitment back in 2008 providing doctors and nurses into the NHS. After 5 years and running my own team, I took a career change and started working in the employability & skills sector running government funded provision to people of all ages. Alongside my role as a contract manager I set up internal recruitment teams to source staff for the companies I worked for. Due to my experience in both areas I decided to open Odyssey in 2016 to work in partnership with training providers, apprenticeship providers, employability companies and FE Colleges to support with the recruitment of staff and contract mobilisation.

Pierre Gowie: Director of Odyssey Recruitment
I have always had an interest in working with people but upon completing my degree in Business and Law at university I wasn’t sure what that looked like. I decided, or felt the need to get a job to be independent. Of all the best times to finish University was the credit crunch. I decided to make my part time job, the start of my full time working journey. Within a short space of time I swiftly progressed within the company, Sale Consultant, Team Leader, Store Manager this was progress in action.
Focusing on customer service was paramount within Carphone Warehouse it was our culture, it was our theme and it was our performance indicator. This was were I developed my skills. I learnt to operate in a competitive environment. At the time, I was unaware that this will set the foundation for what would be my progression within the recruitment sector.
After 7 years working for Carphone warehouse I decided to move on and recruitment was the perfect fit. My passion for people grew and well as my desire to perform and exceed service expectations. In my new role working within the skills and welfare sector I managed a large team covering a vast area of England. We would complete a contract and move onto the next one, it was a well oiled machine. After 6 years I decided that I not only wanted to achieve the financial targets, I also wanted to make a difference in people’s lives so I partnered with my now business partners and started our own recruitment company.
My specialist areas are relationship management, project management and service delivery.
I truly believe on the basis of profit delivered through service and every day we work towards delivering the best service levels possible.
